Welcome to The Holland Easter Open

One of the most popular tournaments we work with is the HOLLAND EASTER OPEN held at Easter(!) in Holland(!) every year and this year we are proud to be making tour arrangements for a club from Malta who will be visiting Holland for the first time.

Paola Hibs will be taking part with their U9 and U13 teams. They are flying into Amsterdam on April 2nd, taking part in the tournament, doing some sightseeing and then heading back home on April 6th.

GoBYSA staff are looking forward to welcoming the players, staff and family members of Paola Hibs to Holland, we know they’ll have a great time!

So, who is wrong?

Is it Manchester City for getting rid of Mark Hughes because they didn’t think he was up to the task regardless of the fact they had only lost twice all season, or only won twice in the previous 11 matches depending on how you look at it.

Or is it Owen Coyle for leaving Burnley  to go to Bolton where he’ll earn more and have more money to spend on players.

Should Man.City have given Hughes more time to mould the players into the team he wanted? Should Coyle have shown more loyalty to his employers?

The fact is football is a business that shows very little loyalty or commitment to anything other than the bottom line. The fans expect the board of their club to run it as they would, with the good of the club foremost in their thinking, they don’t. The fans expect the players and staff to be as dedicated to the club as they are, the aren’t.

Mark Hughes will get a huge pay off even though his employers didn’t think he was up to the task (would you if you were sacked?) and he’ll get another job where he will do exactly the same as he has done in his previous jobs, whatever that was. Coyle will stay at Bolton for a couple of years before he is sacked or he leaves for another ‘better opportunity’ and so it goes on and so it will.

A great start to 2010

My daughter came off her moped yesterday on the way home from work.

She called us to tell us what had happened so we got in the car and went over to where she was about 5 miles from home. People had stopped and were taking care of her, she wasn’t hurt much but was shaken up. A woman stopped her car and said that she was the second person to come off a moped in that spot today, she had called the council after the first incident but they hadn’t done anything to the roads in the interim.

Her moped was a bit banged up so I asked a home owner nearby if it could be left on his driveway until I could arrange to have it picked up. My daughter said that her wrist hurt her. She could move it, she could move her fingers, there was no swelling, however she still wanted to go to the hospital ‘just in case’. My view was that we would get there and be registered by a miserable receptionist, sit around for a while before seeing the triage nurse, sit around again waiting for an X-Ray and then after the X-Ray sit around for even longer (probably 3 hours in total) before seeing a doctor only to be told it was a slight sprain and there’s nothing to be done. Still, my opinion was ignored and off we went to the hospital only to be registered by a miserable receptionist, sit around for a while before seeing the triage nurse, sit around again waiting for an X-Ray and then after the X-Ray sit around for even longer  before seeing a doctor only to be told it was a slight sprain and there’s nothing to be done. Luckily this only took 2.5 hours!

Welcome to 2010

The Christmas and New Year break seem to get longer and longer. The holiday period basically started on December 18th and has continued right through until this coming Monday, a little over two weeks when people wind down and have some fun ready to get going again with, hopefully, determination to do their best for those around them.

The travel business normally see’s an upturn in the early part of each year, I’m hoping that 2010 will be the same and that the teams who are looking to take part in a tournament, play friendship matches or enjoy a training camp make their decisions as soon as possible to ensure that they get the package they want.

Over the next few weeks the GoBYSA newsletter will be providing you with information about all the tours we offer, I’ll also be putting the same information here on the blog…..don’t miss out, the experience of playing overseas cannot be replicated and means so much to each and every player in your squad.

Happy New Year!

The second half of the season

The Premier League has been interesting so far with the usual ‘big four’ struggling at times against the lesser teams and with the new ‘contenders’ showing what they can do.

I said before the season started that Man City would score plenty but also let in a lot of goals, this has proved to be the case, however I think things will tighten up under their new manager. Liverpool made the big mistake of selling Alonso, he has been really missed, whilst at the back Johnson is dismal and Carragher is past his best. Arsenal have been fantastic whilst Man United and Chelsea have been their usual selves. Mind you Chelsea are not the same when Essien is missing, their keeper has not been playing up to his usual high standards which has exposed John Terry for what he is. Villa are lightweight and Spurs too reliant upon 2-3 players playing well despite having what looks like a great squad on paper……..my prediction? Chelsea to win it, Arsenal 2nd, Man United 3rd and Man City 4th.

At the bottom my team, West Ham, are once again struggling because of finances. It happened after Redknapp left the club with a huge wage bill and mediocre players that were difficult to get rid of and now they are in the same position, again because of money but this time because of the debt they have. If Green, Upson and Parker go, it will be very difficult for them. If the board had the good of the club as their number one priority rather than the current investors they would have accepted the Gold and Sullivan money. Portsmouth are another club struggling for money and their situation seems worse with their squad being decimated by some many going to play in the African tournament. Bolton, Wolves and Hull are all poor ………my prediction? Bolton, Hull and either West Ham or Portsmouth to go down depending on what happens in the January transfer window.
